Scientific - cultural workshop
"History and Cultural and Environmental Heritage of the Mediterranean, from the Maritime Republics to the Technological Revolutions of the Present Time"
November 21, 2025
Hall of conférence - Oceaonographic Museum of Monaco
On November 21, an international technical-scientific workshop will be held at the conference room of the Monaco Oceanographic Museum, addressing the following theme: history and cultural and environmental heritage of the Mediterranean, from the Maritime Republics to the technological revolutions of the present time, of which Monaco is a natural historical point of reference. The workshop will articulate this theme through a focus on international history and Mediterranean cultural heritage, a second on environmental and maritime heritage, then a third on sports and technological challenges for sustainability in this area.
The OCM project receives moral and material support from different institutions, both for the realization of the sports record - under conditions of safety and environmental sustainability - and for the organization of the Gala events and the international workshop.
For the latter activity, the OCM project can count - in addition to the support of private sponsors - on the patronage of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Oceanographic Museum, and collaboration with the Motonautical Federation and the Mairie of Monaco. In this context, the Interdepartmental Research Center Cooperation with Eurasia, the Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa CEMAS of Sapienza University of Rome has coordinated an academic and scientific network to support the OCM project, to set up an international technical-scientific committee to supervise the Nov. 21 workshop, as well as involved academics from different disciplinary fields, from historical-international and heritage studies to engineering and environmental and maritime sciences.
Thus, scientifically contributing to the international interdisciplinary workshop on the November agenda is a committee of academics with a network of European and Mediterranean universities, ranging from the University of Corsica to the University L'Orientale in Naples, from the University of Genoa to the Université Côte-d'Azur in Nice, to the Polytechnic University of Turin.
Scientific and Academic Standing Committee
